The Patient Participation Group consists of a number of patients, a GP partner, the Practice Manager Emma-Clare Rockall and members of the practice team.
Members of the group are available at various times to talk to patients and get their views on the services that the practice offers. They will also be kept informed about local commisssioning and have a voice at the local commissioning meetings. Should you ever wish to contact a member of the group the staff can leave them a message.
The group is keen that the PPG be representative of a wide age range and would like to hear from anyone who would like to be involved in the project whether this be as an elected officer in the group or as a volunteer helper. Please see the documents below for more details about PPG’s and if you are interested, please contact the Practice Manager Emma-Clare Rockall in the first instance.

Guide to Patient Participation Groups
What is a Patient Reference Group?
We recognise that many of you lead busy lives and don't have time for long questionnaires or time consuming meetings but often you would like to comment on how we run your local surgery. We are therefore developing a 'virtual group' and would like to encourage at least 100 patients of all ages to join so that you can give us your feedback every so often. We are really keen for this group to be representative of our patient population and so want young and old alike to join.
What will be involved?
We will ask you to sign up using the form opposite and give us your email address which we will keep securely on our database. We will then email you a couple of times a year to ask you a few questions - we will do our best to make this concise. Firstly, we may ask you what areas you feel we need to explore and gain feedback on. Then we will prepare some questions in the most popular areas to get some more detailed feedback. Once all the surveys have been completed we will let you know the findings and ask you how you feel we should address any problems that have been highlighted. We will send you a regular newsletter each time this is published too.
What if I don't have an email address?
Don't worry - fill out the form anyway and we will send everything by post.
I have a question you haven't answered here?
Use the contact us tab to ask your question and we will do our best to answer it.
PPG stands for Patient Participation Group. They are organisations which respond to the needs of their own patients. They negotiate their own aims, terms of reference and activities such as:
PPG's are usually small groups of committed individuals who meet regularly (in our case every 3 months), however a lack of representation of certain patient groups is a common weakness (i.e. younger patient groups) which is where PRG's come in.
PRG stands for Patient Reference Group. They have a set of targets imposed which are the same for every practice. These can include:
The introduction of PRG's has helped reach out to a wider variety of patients and is an online/virtual group who contribute less and need not meet regularly.
We would like to know how we can improve our service to you and how you perceive our surgery and staff.
To help us with this, we are setting up a virtual patient representation group so that you can have your say. We will ask the members of this representative group some questions from time to time, such as what you think about our opening times or the quality of the care or service you received. We will contact you via email and keep our surveys succinct so it shouldn’t take too much of your time.
We aim to gather around a hundred patients from as broad a spectrum as possible to get a truly representative sample. We need young people, workers, retirees, people with long term conditions and people from different ethnic groups.
If you are happy for us to contact you occasionally by email please click the link below to open the sign-up form and complete all the fields.
